Plans for my Jeep in 2007

Posted in Jeep by john

My Jeep is going to get some TLC this year. The items on the list are a headlight upgrade, I will probably go to the silverstars as they are an affordable upgrade. I will be getting and installing a new 2 row radiator and creating a grill screen at the same time to protect the new rad. I will replace my brakes, most likely in the fall. I hope to determine if there is actually a crack in my exhaust header and if there is replace that too. Lastly I will need to get new rubber before the winter hits and I am looking at these:

For the second time this winter

Back at the start of the month I hade the pleasure of driving through yet another blizzard at 11 pm. As we sat at work, each of us in our respective offices, we kept looking out the windows seeing less and less of the world around us and more and more of the blowing snow. All of the night staff were calling in saying they could not drive in. My collegues were all making arranements to spend the night at work. I, however called home and said “I may be a few minutes later then normal tonight”. Here is a glimpse of what I had to drive through, only when I attempted it there was not daylight. Thanks go out to Ginnia for the picture yet again.

I think I can see

As all of you from around Alberta know we had a blizzard here this past week. The worst of it was at about 1030pm on Tuesday. I Luckily was inside at work when it hit. My unlucky part came in that I needed to drive home at 11pm. There was zero visiability and the highway was very icy. I managed to drive all the way home incident free and it only took an extra 15mins. All I have to say is thank DC for building my jeep well enough to handle the weather. Fog lights and 4×4 and I was home safe. For those of you who have never experienced a storm like this here are a couple pictures taken by Ginnia as I myself never grabbed my camera.

Jeep update

Posted in Jeep by john

So I have been busy with my jeep, or at least I have been busy planning for my jeep. She had the left front parking light die. At first I assumed it was just a bulb but when I removed the bulb I realized the contacts in the socket had corroded away. So finally yesterday I went to pick and pull and found the socket needed, thanks to a dodge neon. Other repairs that are needed are a new radiator in the spring, new tires in the fall, work the dents out of the fender, and get my addons. I will write up my wish list later this week.

The night I went off the road…

Posted in Jeep by john

It was a dark, cold, rainy night. In fact it was freezing rain. I was heading home from work at about 1130pm. The car in front of me slowed down and pulled onto the shoulder and stopped. I slowed down as I passed to make sure everything was okay and as I proceeded to give Delilah a little more gas my backend began to slide out. The next thing you know I am sliding across the opposite lane and at that point all I can do is ride the slide out and see where I end up. I continued to slide all the way until I was back on my shoulder perpendicular to the direction of the road. Everything turned out ok as all it took to get back rolling again was to turn the 4wd on and crawl slowly the rest of the way down that highway. The rest of the drive wasn’t that icy.
